It is no secret that women and gender minorities are and feel held back in the music industry, and we know that intersectional elements further exacerbate this. The report “Women in the U.S. Music Industry: Obstacles and Opportunities” conducted a survey of 20000 women in the industry, covering a varied range of factors, from demographics, employment, barriers in the workplace and more – and whilst US-centric, these are issues faced by women and gender minorities across the industry around the world.
