The same EIGE report found that where childcare is the case – earnings are estimated to go up by 4.8%! Not to mention being able to simultaneously focus on careers. Whilst this is heartening, it must be noted that access to childcare is not equal. This is inherently important for mothers and parents in general, and in facilitating childcare in music industry contexts, where needs go beyond traditional 9-6 hours working in a company – for example, attending festivals and touring musicians - we know that that many companies and festivals must already be supporting industry parents in some way.
