During lockdown and the pause on festivals, Marcus Barnes at beatportal took the opportunity to look at some stats around the world, not only to uncover gender disparity on the line ups, but ethnicity too. This highlights the overall need to take intersectionality into consideration when researching, analysing and formulating strategies in combating inequality and barriers. Whilst these are trends in the electronic music festival scene, we have observed these patterns in all areas of the industry.
