Inspired by our trip to Copenhagen this week, today we have a look at Musikselskaber 2021. This analyses the gender distribution in the Danish music industry through members of the organisation IFPI Denmark which accounts for the majority of the country’s sales and distribution of music. Of course, we can’t emphasise enough that local statistics, though repetitive and reflective of the wider global picture, are also crucial to targeted action and take into account the nuanced cultural contexts. There is no one-hat-fits-all solution and we need to knowledge share collectively to tap into the solutions.
