Last week saw the Black Lives in Music report: Being Black in the UK Music Industry released - the first in-depth analysis of its kind. Focusing on the lived experience of Black creators and professionals, it is biggest survey of black musicians and music industry professionals in the UK. With crucial recommendations included, the report is an urgent read for the music industry. The systematic racism experienced is also a reflection of society at large, highlighting just how much work needs to be done collectively with serious consideration given to intersectionality.
