Friday Figures - 23 Aug

We head over to the Donne report released a couple of months ago and take in some glaring additional statistics. The Equality & Diversity in Global Repertoire (2023/2024 season) found that upon further reading, only 89.9% of chief conductors were men, and only 10.1% women. These further highlight other roles and the ripple effect, and not just the works themselves being played, in the world of orchestra. As Donne point out, “[T]his stark contrast underscores the need for greater diversity and inclusion in orchestral leadership and programming.”
