To get some context, it is important to have comparative figures between genders to reflect on the disparity in facing barriers and outright prejudice because of one’s gender in the music industry. Funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM), Reeperbahn Festival has conducted research investigating the gender diversity around the German music culture and industry as part of the Keychange initiative. The report asks both men and women their thoughts on gender in the industry, as well as include a consumer perspective.
