In today's Friday Figures we take a brief look at the live music sector. Live DMA is a network of music venues associations across Europe and represents 2597 live music venues and clubs as part of 19 members in 15 countries. In its research, it found that, “The Survey includes a new question about the balance of female/male workers in the music venues and clubs. These first results are based on available data from Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, The Netherlands, Spain and Sweden.” Another consideration when thinking about gender balance, and also highlighting the need for further research in the area of music and gender. The return of live music in its fullest form may be a while away, and given COVID-19’s heart breaking, all-pervasive impact, let’s take a moment for the individuals whose livelihoods depend on the live music and events sector both in front and behind the stage.
