The 2019 NPR Music Jazz Critics Poll found that 50% of top 10 new releases were recordings led or co-led by women artists. Whether driven by #MeToo or other pressing global concerns, it shows how integral movements are for the push to represent the underrepresented. As the NPR feature, ‘Equal At Last? Women In Jazz, By The Numbers’ point out that whilst this is positive, “Only when women's participation in the music has been clearly defined, documented and measured can we be certain of any improvement in their collective status — or lack thereof”, something which Keychange demonstrable looks to proactively address.
