Sometimes we need to look at the most obvious numbers to really think about the gender disparity and representation in all facets of life when the global population gender split is basically even, taking into account gender minorities alongside women. Sobering and frustrating in equal measure – a constant reminder of why a collective approach and movement is necessary and ongoing to reach representative gender balance in the music industry and, of course, everyday life.
