We must take into account trends that reflect an increase in women and gender minorities entering the industry. UK Music’s Diversity Report found that almost half of their industry survey respondents were women. Whilst this is heartening and a broader perspective, the overrepresentation of women and gender minorities (just like with black, Asian and ethnic minority employees) in the lower positions remain rife. Organisations must not only commit to representation, but the diversity must be reflected at ALL levels.
