When working towards gender parity, we have to look at the whole ecosystem of the industry we call music, from start to finish. Cue the early stages of an artist’s development and industry journey when considering management, agents and A&R. The disproportion of gender representation here permeates and has a knock-on effect along the flow of decision making, from signings, radio airplay, promotion, awards, through to the end stage of festivals and gig line ups. All are interconnected.
