The average number of women songwriters has remained pretty stagnant, depressingly, with little variation from 2012 to 2021 (a decade!) according to the updated USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative report “Inclusion in the Recording Studio?”. This is the fifth annual report in the series, which examines the artists, songwriters, and producers credited on each of the 1,000 popular songs on the Billboard Hot 100.
