We would like to think that it’s not all gloom and doom! The Black Lives in Music ‘Being Black in the UK Music Industry: Music Industry Professionals – Part 1’ report found that attitudes are shifting where diversity inclusion practices and initiatives are in place to challenge and address the barriers faced because of race or ethnicity. Strategic approaches are also necessary for long-lasting, sustainable change within the industry. For example, transparency with contracts, pay rates and employee demographics which are crucial in fostering an inclusive and fair workplace to move forwards.
