Friday Figures - 13 Nov
We continue our geographical take with today’s Friday Figures in Canada. Where gender split may be equal, the pattern all over must be noted “Across all sectors, women’s artistic and creative outputs receive significantly less public exposure than those of men. The systemic and relative (in)visibility of women’s artistic works indicates that women, as a group, experience gender-based disadvantage in the arts and cultural industries overall.” (The Status of Women In the Canadian Arts and Cultural Industries, Ontario Arts Council) whilst at the same bringing to question aspects of intersectionality “17% are members of racialized”, “Only 1.9% are Indigenous”, both numbers proportionally lower in representation.
