We would like to acknowledge that many of our pledgers have been working towards gender balance long before we came along, such as Swedish signatories Föreningen Svenska Tonsättare! Alongside KVAST (Kvinnlig anhopning av svenska tonsättare), in addition to their ongoing activism, together, they started collating statistics to measure change in 2014/2015 when the percentage of women composers was 4,0% - this rose to 10.1% in 2018/2019. We welcome the upwards trajectory! The great thing about being part of a network (e.g. as Keychange Pledge signatories!) – even if you are already encompassing gender diversity in your work, the combined forces of all with sharing tips, encouragement and experiences can only amplify, quicken and further the need for gender representation in the music industry.
