The consequences of the pandemic has had an indescribably shocking effect on the live music sector. This Friday we look at Live DMA’s current report which calculates the impact of Covid-19 from participating venues. Of 2,600 venues across Europe, Live DMA estimates 664,000 artist performances will not take place due to cancellation or postponement this year. Even with social distancing, the limited capacities for the most part make it impossible to maximise income, with only losses on the horizon. This raises questions of support, not only donations but most importantly, what various governments are doing to curb further closures and bankruptcies of venues.
