Friday Figures - 21 Jul

In production, making music behind the scenes or live production, we are constantly reminded that gender parity goes beyond the front stage and the number of roles that exist in the music industry. We hear what Opera for All have to say about this, taking a look at the work of SWAP’ra (Supporting Women and Parents in Opera). If these disheartening figures don’t push you into action, we don’t know what will. Simultaneous action is needed, especially top-down, those in decision making positions of the hiring process, outreach and beyond. If you’re thinking about what it may mean for you and your organisation/company, we invite you to sign the Kecyange Pledge – if only to take that first step in acknowledging the gender problem and taking a deep look at your own infrastructure. So, get in touch!

In the meantime, read more from Opera for All here.
