Today we give a nod to the initial motivations of Keychange in seeking gender balance in a music festival context. A recent study by Centre National de la Musique found that in 2019, of 100 music festivals analysed in France, only 14% of performances in the line up were women, which is not only indicative of other festival line ups, but representation issues in a wider music industry context. With spring around the corner and we start thinking about IRL festivals and when they will start to happen again and in what form. A finger on the reset button, what better way to delve into eras new than having gender balance and representation at the forefront.
