The first of our Friday Figures today comes from a Harris Interactive study on gender equality conducted among female authors, songwriters and publishers who are members of Sacem @sacem – 2020. It found that 60% of female members found difficulty operating in a male dominated environment. This reflects an unsurprising and ongoing issue of gender expectations within the music industry (and no doubt other industries) where women and gender minorities are often undermined, overruled, and treated unfairly, leading to a toxic work environment.
