Friday Figures - 6 Aug
As we see the varying economic reawakening across the world in the ongoing pandemic, we have to reflect on the global workforce and question how to move forward from its devastating impact. The McKinsey Global Institute found that women have been almost twice more vulnerable to losing their jobs than men during the pandemic. We can imagine this to be higher in the music industry where the precarious nature of jobs and lack of governmental economic support meant that women have not only left the industry to alternative employment, but saw an increased share in (unpaid) care provision, further impacting on their work status.
