Friday Figures - 1 Mar
With International Women’s Day around the corner, let’s remind ourselves of the positives from the latest USC Annenberg’s ‘Inclusion in the Recording Studio?’ report and how targeted action has really paid off in recent years. From artists, songwriters to producers and the Grammys, gender representation is noticeable (some modest, yet very significant) across the Billboard Hot 100 Year-End charts over a decade. If we can see such significant change across the course of a year with gender representation of producers, imagine what can be achieved by keeping the momentum.
You don’t need us to tell you how much work there is still left to do, in particular behind the stage. But we must acknowledge strides made and applaud individuals, companies and organisations alike that have facilitated continued change in the industry.
