Of EU countries for which data are available, Eurostats found that in 2019, women’s gross hourly earnings were on average 14.1% below those of men in the EU. Additionally, the gender pay gap differs per economic activity: looking at the data available for the Arts, Entertainment and recreation sector, the gender pay gap rises to 16.5%. The pay gap is even higher in the private sector in the majority of the EU countries.
