Keychange is happy to announce that 6 European music networks and associations have newly signed the Keychange Pledge, joining a network of more than 475 music festivals and organisations worldwide that are taking action towards achieving gender equality in the music industry.
Keychange is proud to be supported by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, which funds a number of other music projects aiming to support and unite the music sector, musicians and creators.
As International Women’s Day events take place around the world, we’re glad to have the opportunity to highlight the efforts of fellow European initiatives towards achieving better gender representation at every level of the music industry. Joining European organisations such as the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO), the latest Keychange Pledge signatories include:
AEC - Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen, ECSA - European Composer and Songwriter Alliance, European Music Council, LiveDMA, Liveurope, and the international network IMPF - Independent Music Publishers International Forum.
“Live DMA is thrilled to join Keychange initiative! Our European network commits to work towards a better gender diversity and equality in the live music sector. Together, we wish to support a real shift in the representation of live music, heading for fairness in our sector.” - Live DMA
“IMPF has sought, since its inception, to reflect the broad diversity and values of the global independent music publishing sector, which not only includes repertoires that are commercially and linguistically varied, but also politically the Forum has endeavoured to have equality of representation for women in the conferences and seminars we host and promote. Similarly, IMFP has had an active outreach to women music publishers to seek their input, inclusion and participation to the decision making bodies of the Board of Directors and Working Groups of the Forum and more generally passionately advocates for gender equality across its policy positions” - Statement from IMPF Board of Directors on March 08 International Women’s Day.
“We are joining Keychange to boost our effort towards enhancing gender balance and diversity within our alliance and the wider music community, in line with the goals set in the ECSA Gender Equality Charter.” - ECSA - European Composer and Songwriter Alliance

Gender equality has been underlined as a priority throughout Creative Europe’s programmes and work, and the European Union Gender Equality Strategy highlights this further as it seeks significant progress towards a gender-equal Europe by 2025.
