With the contributions of almost 6000 respondents, this week saw the release of the first ever UK Musicians’ Census, brought to you by Help Musicians and Musicians’ Union. It provides deep insight to the demographics of the UK music industry and barriers to career progressions and economic challenges. We have honed in on the very few women and gender diverse people as top earners, and when you look deeper into the report, the gender and intersectional barriers are looked at within various levels, as well as the pay gap in a self-employed context.
