Friday Figures - 7 Apr

The report ‘Gender Inequality in the Cultural Sector – Economic and Emotional State of Female Artists’ looks at the Lithuanian cultural sector, and we advise you to read further and understand that in some territories, women may me overrepresented and yet undervalued and grossly underpaid when compared to other sectors. This brings to question gendered roles in the workplace, the prestige and status (or lack thereof) in viewing the arts, and why disparities continue to persist even if things seem ‘ok’ on the outside. Additionally, in the statement we look at on today’s Friday Figures takes into account other intersections beyond sex and gender, including age.

Put together by Kristina Mažeikaitė and Kamilė Čelutkaitė (Head of Creative Desk Lithuania), we welcome another cultural perspective on gender equity with its own set of challenges.
