A year later than anticipated, we were honoured to present Alin Coen with the Keychange Inspiration Award at Reeperbahn Festival 2022! An accomplished musician (releasing her first solo album in 2010, playing support shows for Regina Spektor and Suzanne Vega, and being awarded the German Music Authors Award in 2011), Alin is also recognised for her activism in a multitude of areas.

From confronting radio stations on their gender imbalanced playlists, to writing childcare costs into funding (and inevitably getting this discussion going), Alin also creates networking opportunities for women in music, such as the "Music Women Wednesday". Under the hashtag #musicwomenwednesday, many female artists can be discovered and be visible on Instagram. We are in awe of the scope of work you do.

Alin Coen, born in Hamburg in 1982, grew up bilingually as the daughter of a German doctor and a Mexican artist. As a teenager, she traveled to India, East Timor, Canada, Australia. In search of Bullerbü, she landed in Sweden at nineteen and discovered her talent as a composer and guitarist at an open stage. In the fall of 2003, she moved to Weimar to study environmental engineering. Four years later, she founded the Alin Coen Band. In 2010, the band released the debut album "Who are you?". In 2011, Alin Coen was awarded the German Music Authors Award in the category of promoting young talent. In 2013, her second album "We're not the ones we thought we were" was released. In 2015, she began a master's degree in water resources management and released the live album "Alles was ich hab" with her band in 2016. In 2020, her third studio album "Nah" was released. In December 2022 she will release an orchestral album that she recorded together with the STÜBAphilharmonie.
