Little Big Sister
Oslo World 2022 saw the Keychange Inspiration Award go to communications company, Little Big Sister! Do not be fooled by its size - the small team offers a range of services in the music industry, from management, promo, project management, to workshops and consultancy. They are recognised for their contributions to the Norwegian music scene, in particular for pushing and developing women and gender minority talent in the industry, representing some of the country’s biggest pop acts!
The Jury on choosing Little Big sister;
“The struggle for a more diverse music scene is fought in many different arenas. It includes everything from grass roots work and public education, to the biggest festivals and the press. Structural change is needed - but we also need role models. People who seek the remaining borders, in order to blow them up.
Since they started in 2015, Little Big Sister has been one of those role models. The bureau has positioned itself as a discerning, smart industry player, who represents some of Norway’s biggest pop acts - and who has been instrumental in building their careers. At the same time, they have joined the debate about the work that remains in the music business.
Norwegian pop music has changed drastically in the last ten years. It has become more diverse in many different ways. Little Big Sister has not been alone in seeing this potential - but their level of ambition, and their ability to follow through is unique. Karpe, Emilie Nicolas, Cezinando, Sval, Ary, B-Boy Myhre. Gabrielle, Marit Larsen - it is hard not to associate the very top of Norwegian pop with Little Big Sister.
But it is not merely about commercial ambition - LBS allows, and encourages artists to evolve. No one has been encouraged to compromise. Not only are Little Big Sister role models in their own right - they have become a creator of role models.”
Alexandra Archetti Stølen (Festival Director, Oslo World), also shares her thoughts on the recipients;
“ Oslo World has a long tradition in supporting strong female leadership. Women’s liberation, their right to self determination and their freedom of expression lies at the heart of this festival. For years we have been at the forefront of supporting women, excellent professionals that are leading the way, artists and activists that use their voice and position to address and fight for women and sexual minorities’ rights. The future of music is linked to this fight and we need strong female leaders in our sector to be able to move forward. By giving the award to Little Big Sister we support the Norwegian music industry as a whole. The company is lead by four incredible women, and they are managing some of the most significant artists we have in Norway right now. Little Big Sister are also proactively share their knowledge and push young women to the front. They are role models both for the established part of our music community and for generations to come”
