BuckingJam Music Foundation (BJP)
The BuckingJam Music Foundation (BJP) is a not-for-profit foundation that operates BuckingJam Palace, a sixty-seat concert venue in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The initiative was started to address a critical lack of affordable performance, rehearsal and recording space for musicians, particularly those in the improvisational music community whose concerts are best presented and experienced in an intimate, listening environment.
Since 2016, their series has attracted a loyal following that allows them to sell-out our shows and return one of the highest pay-outs in North America to musicians for a club-sized venue. They primarily host touring jazz and other improvisational musicians who play original music. They strive for diversity and gender parity in all their programming and on their board and Creative Committee.
In addition to hosting concerts, they create on-line educational and artistic programming; provide food, transport and accommodation to touring musicians; offer rehearsal space and recording facilities; and host receptions and special events.
