Girls I Rate
Girls I Rate (GIR), is a non-profit organisation that pushes for equality and opportunity for wxmen aged 16-30, within the music and creative industries.
Founded in 2016, the organisation is lead by Carla Marie Williams–Grammy Award winning UK songwriterto Beyonce, BritneySpears, Craig David, Sean Paul, Paloma Faith and Rudimental to name a few. In 2020, GIR launched GIR BLK, to give more visibility to black, female creatives aged 16-30. They also launched GIR Radio and GIR TV, pushing to play 50-100% music created by womxn.
Additionally, their initiative #MentorMe, looks to amplify the voices of black female professionals to help empower and guide the future generation of black creatives. In 2021, GIR will be working alongside Keychange to bridge the gap between the UK and the Caribbean diaspora, specifically in Jamaica.
