Nasjonal Jazzscene - Victoria
Nasjonal jazzscene is a non-profit foundation established in 2006, funded by The Ministry of Culture. At Victoria, their a 300-cap venue, they promote 4-5 concerts per week, around 170 concerts per year. Their vision is to be a jazz venue with significance for the whole of the Norwegian jazz scene and one of Europe's most important and best jazz venues. They want to promote jazz and improvised music from a broad spectre and of the highest quality and in 2020, received Europe Jazz Network's Award for Adventurous Programming.
By joining the Keychange pledge, Nasjonal jazzscene wants to contribute to a more balanced music industry. “Historically, jazz has been a male dominated genre,” says Line Juul, production manager at Nasjonal jazzscene. “On the positive side we can see that changes are on their way, both in musicians recruiting and in different leading positions. However, we must keep on working towards a better balance and stay conscious in all aspects of our work.”
