Ai fen / ba:zel
Ai fen is a solo experimental pop project weaving together screamo, ambient, darkwave, techno and classical to excavate the most hidden, repressed and terrifying aspects of past, present and future self. The project is characterized by vocal experimentation ranging from operatic to screamo, the soprano flute, synths, deconstructed electronics and a range of samples, from vocal to field recordings. In February of 2020 Ai fen released her debut solo album 'postforever' and is currently both working on new material as well as composing work for other projects, most notably Czech artist Marketa Magidova's short animated film 'Releasing Spell' which premiered at the Bucheon International Animation Film Festival in South Korea.
In addition to Ai fen, Chinese-Polish musician, composer and producer Ewelina Vlček-Chiu is half of the witch-wave duo ba:zel along with Daniel Vlček. ba:zel has released a full length album ('eye draw(s) the line' 2016), two EPs (REMIX EP(2016) and Scene 7 (2017) and has been steadily releasing tracks off of their upcoming sophomore album, set to release in late 2021. The duo has toured extensively both at home and abroad, with tours across Europe and Canada and worked with a plethora of filmmakers, artists, performers and live visual artists.
