Chagall
Chagall is an Amsterdam-born, London based electronic music producer, songwriter and vocalist. She has been using the gestural mi.mu gloves interface since early 2015. Chagall’s music combines soulful vocals, heartfelt harmonies and lyricism with heavy but constrained electronic production. It draws influence from multiple places, anything from the eclectic world of Björk, to the wintery sound of James Blake along with a growing generation of female producers like FKA Twigs and Tirzah. Chagall’s live performances are a physical manifestation of her electronic productions, using the movement of my body to directly render the music live to audiences. With over 60 performances at e.g. TEDx, Ableton Loop, Latitude, Sonar +D, Green Man and a headline show at Rich Mix Chagall is one of the most experienced users of the mi.mu glove technology to date. In 2017, during an intensive Research and Development project at Somerset House Studios and Westminster University and supported by the Arts Council England, Chagall worked with a team of artists to further explore the interaction between music, technology, choreography, visual design and lights to develop an immersive live performance called ‘Calibration’ which was toured throughout the UK and Europe.
