1. read up
The stats are the reason why we are here. Women and gender-diverse people are underrepresented in almost all areas of the music industry. There are barriers that prevent women and gender-diverse people from being represented. Update yourself or collect the data yourself, and find out what we are dealing with here.
2. advocate
Take gender balance into account in your public advocacy and influence from your position and platform. As a public figure, you have the means to use your social media, creative art, broadcasting or printing to spread the movement. Demand that representative programming is on radars! Participate where there is representation. Advocate where there is not.
3. Make use of keychange assets
Use the Keychange Manifesto; follow our recommendations for a balanced music industry. Find out more about gender definitions in our FAQs. Explore our code of conduct on how to respectfully approach people with various genders.
4. Nominate
Do you know of underrepresented talent? Is your favourite music event still not gender balanced? Do you know a company that wishes to contribute to the cause? Take action and nominate!
Nominations are currently on hold

“I am exceedingly grateful to Keychange for their initiative in trying to put this to rights for we absolutely and urgently MUST put it to rights. We are doing a great disservice, not only to women of all races and socio-economic backgrounds but to all genders, culture and society in general by allowing the status quo to continue. I am proud to support Keychange and everything it is trying to do. “
