Gender representation in front of stage must go beyond festival line-ups. We must also contemplate and act on bookings and events in individual gig/concert contexts. In a Guardian analysis of UK gigs listing website Ents24 from October 2017 found that 9% (33 of 370 listed gigs) were female-only acts. This is where responsibility also lies with us to ensure that we are consuming music proactively with gender representation at the forefront of our minds – make changes with acts you spend your money on to see live!
